A Riverside Town at the Heart of the Causeway Coast
Coleraine is a lively town on the banks of the River Bann and a great base for exploring Northern Ireland’s spectacular Causeway Coast. With a wide range of shops, cafés and restaurants, it combines the convenience of a bustling town with attractive riverside walks, green spaces and some of the country’s best coastal scenery all within easy reach.
Food & Drink
Coleraine has a good selection of independent cafés, restaurants, traditional pubs and bars. Whether it’s coffee and lunch during a day of shopping or an evening meal and drinks, there are plenty of options around the town.
Explore the Causeway Coast
One of Coleraine’s biggest attractions is its location. The seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart are just a short drive away, while attractions such as Mussenden Temple, Downhill Beach and the Giant’s Causeway are all within easy reach.
Excellent Schools & Further Education
Coleraine is well served for education, with a strong choice of primary and post-primary schools in and around the town, including Coleraine Grammar School, Loreto College and North Coast Integrated College, alongside a number of established primary schools and specialist provision. For older students, Coleraine also benefits from having both Ulster University’s Coleraine campus, offering undergraduate and postgraduate study, and Northern Regional College’s £46 million Causeway Campus, which opened in 2024 and provides further education, higher education, apprenticeships and industry-focused training. That combination gives families access to a wide range of learning opportunities from primary school right through to university level without necessarily having to leave the area.
Shopping & Local Life
The town centre offers a mix of familiar high-street names and independent businesses, while the surrounding area provides everything from golf and beaches to scenic drives and countryside walks.
